Chiro Manipulation
Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic manipulation is a procedure where the body is assessed for subluxation. Subluxation is a minor dislocation or misalignment of a bone. The subluxation is relieved by a doctor trained to apply force with their hands or an instrument.  With the application of force or the use of proper tools, a person will experience discomfort relief and be able to improve motion and function within the body. There are dozens of Chiropractic adjusting techniques.  Dr. Ryan Marrow has prided himself on studying and effectively providing as many customizable therapies as possible to fit each patient's needs. We provide low-force gentle options like Thompson Drop and activator and traditional chiropractic manipulative therapies ("cracking," if you will).

Chiropractic Pediatric Care

Chiropractic care for kids is an excellent way to maintain your children's musculoskeletal health as they grow. Dr. Ryan Marrow is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and has been since the beginning of his career.  Dr. Ryan Marrow had his first child while in chiropractic school and quickly began to study techniques on how to effectively help children with musculoskeletal challenges, such as birth trauma and more. The thought of a child receiving chiropractic care is puzzling to some people. However, it is a very gentle procedure that children love as much as their parents. For perspective, the force used to adjust a baby is only that you would use to comfortably press on your closed eyelid.   This mild pressure is still effective due to a child's lack of muscular development. Dr. Ryan Marrow and his staff love having kids in the office, as we value the importance of helping those of all ages.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine. It aims to open skin pores to stimulate blood flow. Cupping can help reduce pain and inflammation, increase blood flow overall, and promote relaxation and well-being. Many people also seek out cupping therapy as a form of massage therapy.

Emotional Release Therapy

This therapy is intended to identify trigger patterns in the nervous system related to specific traumatic or stressful events. Our trained doctors can help relieve the body and nervous system of the buildup effects of traumatic events or relationships over time. This therapy allows a reset to the autonomic nervous system, where triggers are causing sympathetic (fight/flight) responses. The reset allows the nervous system to respond with a parasympathetic response (rest/digest), where it would normally use the ingrained trauma response.

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is a biology-based approach to medicine that focuses on treating the root cause of disease. Our doctors are trained to treat conditions from the root cause, not just at a symptomatic level. Within functional medicine, our doctors also focus on preventative measures for patients. This promotes the treatment of existing medical conditions and protection within the body for the future. Our doctors will customize a treatment plan to meet your unique needs. They are trained to use functional testing to determine how a person's systems work and what the system may need to heal or act preventatively. With functional medicine, nutritional advice and planning can be implemented to meet health needs and optimize a healthy living experience. Our doctors are happy and ready to help you understand the operational system of your body and bring whole-body health and wellness to your lifestyle.

 Functional Neurology

Functional Neurology is a noninvasive approach to diagnosing and treating complex neurological conditions. It combines traditional neurologic testing, such as reflexes, autonomic measurements, oculomotor and vestibular testing, balance testing, and coordination measurements.   These techniques allow the Physician to determine which areas of the brain/brainstem are working appropriately and which are deficient. Next, combining different methods from physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, chiropractic, and nutritional approaches, a specific treatment plan is created based on each patient's unique findings. There are no limitations to conditions that functional neurology cannot assist with, as we know the brain can change and adapt each day regardless of age or condition. Functional neurologists are board-certified in physical medicine disciplines, such as chiropractic or physical therapy, and have additional board certifications in neurology.

Intensive Trauma Therapy

Our traumatologist has a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and is an expert in the field of trauma. She is studying toward her doctorate in Traumatology. She practices within the framework of the Instinctual Trauma Response method. She also incorporates whole-body approaches to treating trauma, working with a team of healthcare professionals to heal the body and mind of the implications of trauma. Intensive trauma therapy aims at using specific techniques to target the brain to process traumatic experiences and store them correctly within the brain.  This allows for relief from symptoms and triggers. Receiving intensive trauma therapy after surviving trauma can bring freedom from trigger responses and behavioral patterns or belief systems stemming from traumatic experiences. This mental health therapy, combined with emotional release therapy, vagal nerve treatment, functional neurology, and functional medicine, brings whole-body healing from trauma. This is a unique experience that Saint Joseph Chiropractic can provide, unlike many physicians. We approach the whole body in healing from trauma. Contact us to learn more about your unique treatment plan for your body based on your experience and symptoms.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape is a flexible tape that aids muscle movement and increases athletic performance. It is often used to relieve pain, decrease swelling and inflammation, and support joints and muscles. The elasticity of kinesiology tape allows for movement facilitation. This makes it different from the more rigid rehabilitation tape with no stretch. Those are used to keep muscles and joints from moving and provide support after an injury, as well as for people with conditions that make it difficult to activate muscles or control muscle contraction. Our doctors are trained and certified in multiple kinesiology taping methods, from Stability taping to functional movement taping.

Mental Health Therapy

Our trained licensed professional counselors are versed in healing mental health symptoms.  They are experienced in providing techniques and guidance to those suffering from mental health conditions, stressful situations or navigating new experiences. Our mental health counselors all have master's degrees within the field and have had extensive experience and supervision aiding in mental health needs.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the tough, dense tissue surrounding and supporting muscles, bones, and organs. When the fascia is relaxed and soft, it can stretch without restriction. However, physical trauma or inflammation can cause fascia to become stiff, tense, and adhese,, leading to pain, reduced range of motion, and increased susceptibility to degeneration. Dr. Ryan has studied several techniques for myofascial release, including instrument-assisted soft Tissue Mobilization, which uses a tool to release the adhesion or Pin and stretch, which uses the hands to release the myofascial restrictions.

Rehabilitation Services

Our doctors are specially trained to customize rehabilitation plans for patients with pain or immobility issues.  Our doctors will provide therapeutic exercises for strengthening and relief. Patients go home feeling confident in implementing exercises into their daily routine. Patients also utilize tools and equipment within the office to achieve maximum rehabilitation and strengthening.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)

Sacro Occipital Technique (S.O.T.) is a chiropractic spinal adjusting procedure that applies gentle, sustained directional forces to the pelvis bones, which then move the sacrum. In addition to the sacrum, the same gentle, sustained forces can be applied to the cranial bones, adding a synchronized movement pattern of the sacrum and occipital bones. This technique is a very effective and gentle method of correcting pelvic and cranial misalignment.  Also, its influence on sacrum alignment relieves abnormal stress and tension to the spinal cord, muscles, and membranes (spinal meninges) that attach to the sacrum, favorably influences cerebrospinal fluid circulation between the cranium above and the sacrum below, and is a very effective method of creating balance in the spine as a whole.  S.O.T. is a very effective form of treatment for people suffering from headache disorders and babies who have sustained birth trauma. Dr. Ryan Marrow has been studying S.O.T. since the start of his chiropractic career and was the president of the S.O.T. club while he attended Plamer College of Chiropractic.

Spinal Corrective Techniques

Chiropractic spinal corrective techniques are additional techniques beyond the traditional chiropractic adjustments. These techniques add additional assessment and rehab therapies to your adjustment to further influence and correct spinal curvature disorders such as scoliosis or poor posture. These therapies are custom exercises and treatments to correct and rehabilitate such curvature problems for good effectively. Poor posture can lead to pain and early degenerative changes if not effectively corrected with the appropriate intervention.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal Decompression Therapy is a technique in which the Doctor uses a specifically designed decompression table to provide specific mechanical traction to the desired spinal level to alleviate pain and nerve pressure. This therapy is a nonsurgical form of treatment for spinal disc injuries like herniations and bulges, among other injuries. Spinal decompression is a comfortable noninvasive therapy for people of most ages.

Sports Medicine

Dr Ryan Marrow has undergone extensive training in sports medicine and is a certified chiropractic sports physician. This training has allowed him to become an expert in healing patients with athletic injuries and needs. Treatments help optimize mobilization, increase overall balance and agility, provide treatment plans for injuries and alternate movements while sustaining injuries, and exercises for strengthening, taping, wrapping, rehabilitating, and getting the athlete ready to play with optimal health and functionality.

 Vagus Nerve Therapy

Vagus nerve therapy involves stimulating the vagus nerve using impulses from a device. Our trained and knowledgeable doctors use vagus nerve therapy to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and engage the person in a grounded, stress-relieving experience. Vagus nerve therapy can be used to help relieve symptoms of trauma, traumatic brain injury, stroke, anxiety, and more. Stimulating the vagus nerve has a calming effect on the body and nervous system. This allows the person to relax and reset after stressful triggers or events.

Webster Method (Chiropractic Pregnancy Care)

The Webster technique provides mothers pelvic and sacral alignment to help achieve a healthy pregnancy and delivery. This allows the baby to remain in an optimal position for gestational growth and eventual readiness for a healthy, safe birth. Many mothers trust the Webster technique to provide an optimal pregnancy experience and aid in delivery and the overall health of the baby. Our doctors are trained and certified in the chiropractic Webster pregnancy technique.
